The leading scientists and development engineers will read a lecture on the technologies of the future for Tomsk residents
The “Tomsk lectures” were held for the first time in 2010. Lectures were read by the leading Tomsk scientists and development engineers. Many other Russian and foreign experts apart from Tomsk natives will deliver a speech as lecturers this year. The lecturers will present the headmost edge of science and technologies along with the “INO Tomsk 2020” project in which the authorities of Tomsk are planning to reach a research and technology leadership. The lectures will be held every Friday at 18:00.
The “Tomsk lectures” project is organized for the mainstream audience — from senior high school students to the specialists and representatives of innovative companies and universities.

The first lecture of the “Future technologies” cycle will be devoted to the biomedical engineering – the future of the biomedical engineering, to what it can give to the future generation, to the dream of the modern person, to ethics which limit scientific and technological development and to the expert evaluation where the person is seen behind the project.
The lectures will be read by:
Yuri Dekhtyar, Professor, Head of the Biomedical Engineering and Nanotechnologies of the Riga Technical University, President of the Latvian Medical Engineering and Physics Society, Member of New York academy of sciences (USA), Expert of the medical physics/engineering European network, Member of the European Physical Society.
Igor Hlusov, Director of the “Biocompatible materials and Bioengineering” Research and Development Center of the Siberian State Medical University, Professor of the Morphology and General Pathology Department (Siberian State Medical University) and other departments of medical science.
Yuri Dekhtyar: “Biomedical engineering is an engineering knowledge and technologies for medicine. A number of scientific discoveries of the 20th century have made the union of biology, medicine and engineering possible. Today the humanity expects very much from this area”.
Igor Hlusov: “A dream of a modern person is to live longer and be happy in the society of consumption. This is a world tendency. The whole medicine is directed to solve this problem”.
The lecture will be held on the 21 of October, on Friday, at 18:00 at the A.S. Pushkin Library (Karl Marks st., 14)
The Administration of Tomsk Region and Non-commercial Partnership “Onto” will be the organizers of the lectures cycles. Portal of the Innovative Forum INNOVUS and “Theories and practices of Tomsk” Internet project are the project partners.

The Government of the Russian Federation has approved and confirmed the concept of the “INO Tomsk 2020” project concept on the 6th of October, 2011. According to the concept, an Educational Center of Research and Development of the international standard is to be created in Tomsk by 2020.
The main aim of the “INO Tomsk 2020” project is the concentration of the intellectual resources on seven general areas:
• Continuous and multilevel model of education
• Power saving technologies and technical means for power-intensive branches of economy
• Nanoelectronics and intellectual power electronics
• Nanotechnologies, creation of advanced materials and development of fascicular, plasma and electrodischarge technologies
• High technology medicine, medical biotechnologies and pharmaceutics technologies
• Rational wildlife management and deep processing of natural resources
• Nuclear technologies
